Here’s what you do when you realize that the sweet spicy green beans you love having in your bloody marys is $10 a jar! You pickle your own for about a couple of bucks!
Ingredients:
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup of water
2 tablespoon of crushed red pepper
6 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 crushed garlic clove
1/2 lb green beans trimmed and washed
Preparation:
In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except for the green beans and bring to a boil, stirring to make sure the sugar and salt dissolve. Put the green beans in a mason jar with a tight lid. You could also just use a tupperware container if you don’t have a mason jar. Pour the hot liquid into the container and seal. Let cool on the counter for 6 hours and then put in the refrigerator. Let pickle for at least 3 days before you enjoy.
